Sunday/Monday Update
Hello friends, family and loved one reading this…
On Sunday, we left Port St. John’s (where our accomodation is) and headed to Seleni (hope I am spelling that correctly). We attended their amazing church service (and felt very welcomed), followed by lunch with the locals and church attenders. We dined on split pea soup and bread. The split pea soup is actually what is served to the children at our soup kitchens. It didn’t taste bad, but for me personally… I was incredibly moved to see, know and now, taste what these little children eat as their only meal every day.
From lunch we headed to a new school and orphan care center that was just built for the village. It wasn’t much of a building but it was A LOT to this community. We dedicated it to Jesus and was a very moving experience for the women who worked so hard to get to this point. Mama Christina is a remarkable woman who is truly going to change Africa.
Church was incredible and is one of the things I remembered from my last trip that I so looked forward to experiencing again on this trip. Music is so important and rich to these people and they sing with victorious praise for quite a long time and rather sporaticly. I am glad I was able to film some it and will share it with you when we return. Just be sure to check the blog here after we get home, as I will post ALL my videos to youtube.
After a long and hot day on Sunday, we headed back down the mountain to Port St. John’s. It was a relaxing evening with dinner, worship and debriefing.
On Monday, we headed to the school where we would begin the HIV/AIDS teaching. The children were incredibly welcoming and eager to hear what we had to say. They of course, like any children in a teaching-setting were quiet. It is amazing and also quite sad to know how many of know what HIV/AIDS is and have been impacted in some way by it.
We head there again tomorrow to review and answer any questions of their’s that today’s discussion may have stirred up. We definitely want to leave them with less questions than before we got there. Please pray that our discussion about Jesus also gets through to these children who are in such search of hope. As well as to just love on these children and their AMAZING teachers. These children are so lucky to have such great teachers who we can tell genuinely care for them. I will relay your comments to the group so please be sure to comment.
Thank you and we love you.

Crystal.
Thanks so much for the updates…I have been praying so hard for your team and your families while you are away. Tell everyone how much we love them and encourage them. A verse that really encouraged me in India was Psalm 146:9
“The Lord protects the foreigners among us. He cares for the orphans and widows, but he frustrates the plans of the wicked.”
Did you get your luggage?

Not only do my daily prayers include each and every one of the team members, but I also pray God will prepare the hearts of the lives you are touching. Thanks to all of you who protect and care for Jessi while she is so far from home.
God Bless and keep you safe.

I’m not as selfless as Brice, as I WILL BE changing clothes while you are gone! lol
Quote from Blackaby’s book: Experiencing God:
“An ordinary person is who God most likes to use. Paul said God deliberately seeks out the weak things and the despised things, because it is from them that He can receive the greatest glory (see 1Cor.1: 26-31.)
Then everyone will know that only God could have done it. If you feel weak, limited, ordinary, you are the best material through which God can work!”
Amen to that! ~ Ja’Zan

Thank you for the wonderful updates. I have been feeling your pain about the delayed luggage. Hope you have gotten them by now. I guess the upside would be you would get back with no laundry to do!!
I am so curious about how where you are is different from Port Elizabeth and the schools in Motherwell. I have been thinking and praying for all of you. Can’t wait to hear about everything when you get back.

Love hearing the updates. I am totally jealous that you guys are there and that I am not! I have been to South Africa twice. It captures a place in your heart.
Know that I am praying for each of you – for wisdom, safety, and for God to use you in big ways.
Know you are loved!

Keri,
So glad to have updates! Thinking of you and your ankle. I still wish I could have fit into your suitcase (even though I would have taken a detour!). Peace be with you, friend.

Hi Crystal,
Please tell Toni, Mike and Travis we miss them. I trust your luggage finally caught up with all of you. Bailey is doing fine, our weather is beautiful today, we had 8″ of rain last week, I talked to Bruce today (he found his passport, silly boy!) That about covers our news. Keep up the good work. Bless ALL of you and we will see you Sunday.
Love
Bev
